Mr. Lowry brings a diverse set of leadership experiences from inside and outside of public elementary and secondary (K-12) education to the position.
Prior to taking the helm at John Muir Middle School, Mr. Lowry served as Principal of Crescent Heights Language Arts/Social Justice Magnet School in mid-city Los Angeles wherein, he led the school to two consecutive years of growth in the school’s Academic Performance Index (API), established and strengthened several partnerships with local business and community leaders, and reinvigorated the school’s fundraising efforts.
Mr. Lowry has served in education administration leadership roles in diverse elementary and secondary schools and communities throughout the city of Los Angeles and in the San Fernando Valley, including in Lawndale, the Hancock Park section of Los Angeles, Encino, North Hills, Panorama City, West Adams section of Los Angeles, Faircrest Heights section of Los Angeles, and in South Los Angeles. He has sought out and excelled in diverse roles in elementary and secondary schools in the service of all students, staff, families, and communities.
Mr. Lowry also brings a strong work ethic and a unique set of diverse leadership experience from outside of public education to his current position. He is a former candidate for the Los Angeles Community College District Board of Trustees and he is an entrepreneur who teaches kids and teenagers about money and financial basics and public speaking fundamentals. Additionally, Mr. Lowry served honorably for ten years in the United States Navy’s Reserve. He has fourteen years of experience as a test preparation lecturer for the SAT and CBEST tests and he is a former student-athlete, having played high school and Division I college baseball.
Mr. Lowry’s goal is to continue to work in close partnership with ALL John Muir Middle School students, teachers, staff, businesses, and community members in order to continue to move John Muir Middle School FORWARD AND UPWARD for All who learn, work, and visit the school.
