New Principal for John Muir Middle School

LA's Promise is delighted to announce that Dr. Nisha Dugal will be joining Muir Middle School as its new principal on July 1, 2011.

Dr. Dugal recently earned her Ed.D in Educational Leadership from USC. She has extensive leadership experience across LAUSD as a social studies teacher, coordinator, and assistant principal at both Stevenson Middle School and Manual Arts High School. She has most recently served as the interim principal for Manual Arts High School. As the interim principal, she has been instrumental in transitioning the school onto a traditional single track calendar and reorganizing into four small learning communities. She has also worked to ensure all students received access to quality standards-based instruction. Under Dr. Dugal's leadership the 10th grade CAHSEE pass rates increased by 10% in both ELA and Math.
