Ruby Guerrero, Associate Director of Parent & Community Engagement Manual Arts High School
Ruby Guerrero is the Associate Director of Parent and Community Engagement. She works with Manual Arts High School integrating community partners and leading parent engagement efforts. Ruby works closely with parents to educate them on how to be true advocates in their children's education.
Ruby joined LA's Promise in June of 2008 as the Coordinator of Community Operations. She became interested in education when she started working with high school students at a probation high school. She continued her work in education at John Muir Middle School working with the English Learner Program. She then began work as a community organizer for Green Dot Public Schools, where she supported the Jefferson transformation project, which opened 5 new charter schools to relieve overcrowding at Jefferson High School.
Ruby graduated from California State University, Los Angeles with her Bachelor of Arts and is currently working on her graduate degree in School Counseling Leadership at California State University, Long Beach.
Ruby's favorite books are I Know why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou, Caramelo by Sandra Cisneros and The Tipping Point by Malcolm Gladwell.
She enjoys hiking, swimming
