Nichol Whiteman, Vice President of Development & Communications
Nichol Whiteman serves as Vice President of Development and Communications for LA's Promise. In this role she directs all fundraising initiatives and oversees all communications efforts to increase annual funding and extend the organization's brand. An integral part of the management team, Nichol reports to the President and CEO.
Nichol joined LA's Promise in 2011. Most recently, she served as Vice President, Western Region Officer at the Jackie Robinson Foundation (JRF). In addition to enhancing JRF's visibility and funding throughout the Western half of the United States, Nichol provided overall strategic leadership for all revenue generating programs. Her wide range of responsibilities included designing and implementing creative strategies for broadening the organization's base of support, nurturing existing relationships and identifying new constituencies.
Prior to JRF, Nichol spent 8 years in publishing and on Wall Street where she played key roles in integrated marketing plans and strategic collaborations for firms such as Black Enterprise Magazine, Essence Magazine, and JP Morgan Chase.
Nichol is a graduate of Spelman College. As part of Nichol's vision to provide educational opportunities for at-risk populations, similar to those afforded her, she dedicates time and energy to several outside activities. Nichol serves as a Board Member for the Imani Foundation, member of the Jackie Robinson Foundation Western Region Selection Committee and as a member of the National Advisory Council for A Better Chance. Nichol is an alumna of A Better Chance, the Jackie Robinson Foundation, the LEAD Program in Business and the United Negro College Fund. She has received numerous awards for her work.
Nichol is a magazine junkie who enjoys cooking and spending time with her husband and three children.
