In this role Alice will help to create a healthier community by giving health lectures, work with staff, students, parents and teachers in a joint partnership to facilitate new and existing programs during and after school. Alice will also assist with the Health Screening program at Manual Arts.
In 2011 LA's Promise brought on the HealthCorps program to assist in meeting their health initiative. Prior to working with LA's Promise, Alice taught English in Thailand, ran a swim program at a camp for under-privileged LA youth, and interned at health clinics in China and Costa Rica.
Alice received her B.A. in International Relations and Global Health and minored in Media Studies at Pitzer College in Claremont, California. She completed an anthropological research thesis on controlled reproduction in China and Costa Rica. Alice's favorite books are A Fine Balance, Wild Swans, and Burnt Shadows. In her spare time she loves to swim, hike and travel.
“Live with intention. Walk to the edge. Listen hard. Practice wellness. Play with abandon. Laugh. Choose with no regret. Continue to learn. Appreciate your friends. Do what you love. Live as if this is all there is.” – Mary Anne Radmacher
